The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
Everything downstream of Jayden Daniels depends on Jayden Daniels, and the building knows it. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They will need Mahogany to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Daniels at the Round 1 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Kool-Aid McKinstry in slot 28 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Christian Mahogany. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Calen Bullock in pick 77 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Zak Zinter at the 108th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Audric Estime at No. 109 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
