Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. That Williams pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Jayden Daniels in pick 3, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 29th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In No. 30 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ennis Rakestraw Jr.. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 50 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Jonah Elliss, who had no business lasting to the 59th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Jacob Cowing in slot 111, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Leonard Taylor III at Round 4, Pick 29 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cedric Gray at No. 133 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
James Williams in slot 137 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Beaux Limmer at the 144th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Ben Sinnott in the 147th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick No. 156 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Moose Muhammad III in pick 172 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Austin Booker at the Round 6 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Jalen Berger at pick No. 248 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Circle this one: Miyan Williams at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
