The Giants spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Erick All, the No. 129 name on the board, in pick 203. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
Everything downstream of Michael Penix Jr. depends on Michael Penix Jr., and the building knows it. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
Bottom line, with Michael Penix Jr. leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They let Jordan Morgan come to them and pounced at pick 47. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Nubin at slot 57 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Payton Wilson in the 62nd pick, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board had Jaylen Wright higher than the Round 3 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Malachi Corley in pick No. 93 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Ben Sinnott in No. 107 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
They barely believed it either: Andru Phillips still on the board at the 113th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They robbed the room for DJ James here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Brandon Coleman in pick 134 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trevor Keegan at Round 5, Pick 30. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Xavier Thomas in the 185th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a tight end like Erick All reach pick No. 203 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Jordan Magee at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Myles Harden in the 228th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
