There is conviction, and then there is this. The Commanders took Jawhar Jordan a full 56 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher and quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
