Call it larceny. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint sat on the board until the 216th overall pick, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Graham Barton went about where he belonged in the Round 1 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 67. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 87th overall pick, with Max Melton worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Dylan Laube in the 174th pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick 216 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 233 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They took Josh Proctor at par in Round 7, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
