Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jordan James at pick 160 is 131 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
On value alone, Anderson makes the weekend a net positive. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Hit on Josh Conerly Jr. and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Colston Loveland at slot 55 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Evan Stewart at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Hunter Wohler at the 125th overall pick, and the board did not agree. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan James. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Nic Anderson at No. 197 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
They reached a country mile for Arian Smith at slot 248, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
