The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Fairchild: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Dylan Fairchild, the No. 70 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 7, Pick 34. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Harold Perkins Jr. · LB · rank 14
In No. 24 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. Need was not the driver here.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Cam Ward · QB · rank 6
Cam Ward at the 55th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.22 · Pick 86 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 3
You do not let a running back like Ashton Jeanty reach the 86th overall pick and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.24 · Pick 125 · Jordan Hancock · CB · rank 30
Circle this one: Jordan Hancock at pick 125 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.22 · Pick 160 · Xavier Restrepo · WR · rank 15
Somehow Xavier Restrepo was still sitting there in slot 160, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The roster fit checks out.
R6.22 · Pick 197 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 41
Wyatt Milum in pick No. 197 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.34 · Pick 248 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 70
Dylan Fairchild in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
