Nobody else had Christian Mahogany anywhere near slot 69. The Chargers did, by 29 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Brock Bowers in the 5th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Legette at pick No. 37, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Mahogany at pick 69 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaac Guerendo in slot 105, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach on Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 10; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They liked Justin Eboigbe enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Jefferson in pick 181 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They went early on Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 225, and the value did not follow. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Whittington in the 253rd overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
