You build a draft on nights like this. Davison Igbinosun had no business being available in slot 118, and the Lions did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The cost of the Moore reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 18 they get the heartbeat of the defense. A clean fit for the roster.
A reach on Derrick Moore in pick No. 52; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
By-the-book stuff, Gennings Dunker at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A slide stopped in the 82nd pick, with Michael Taaffe worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Davison Igbinosun in Round 4, Pick 18 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for Gracen Halton in the 119th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had Isaiah World higher than slot 157, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taylen Green at No. 196 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Domani Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jeff Caldwell in Round 7, Pick 6, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
