Best value of the weekend goes to the Dolphins for Laumea: B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Sataoa Laumea got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 184. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Barner reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 31
In the 28th pick they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · Ruke Orhorhoro · DT · rank 61
Ruke Orhorhoro at No. 55 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · AJ Barner · TE · rank 166
AJ Barner at pick No. 158 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R6.9 · Pick 184 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 163
Sataoa Laumea at slot 184 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.23 · Pick 198 · Grayson Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 197
By-the-book stuff, Grayson Murphy at the 198th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.21 · Pick 241 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Trey Taylor at the Round 7 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
