Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Isaiah Adams got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at No. 158. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
JC Latham is a better player than No. 25 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Ja'Tavion Sanders at the 34th pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Kris Jenkins in the 46th overall pick, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Junior Colson in Round 2, Pick 23. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Kiran Amegadjie at pick 94 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dominick Puni at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kamren Kinchens at slot 132 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Isaiah Adams at pick No. 158 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and James Williams at Round 6, Pick 9 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
JD Bertrand in No. 241 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
