The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched T.J. Sanders slide 193 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 3 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Ashton Jeanty in slot 40 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Wyatt Milum here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tre Harris at pick 77 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Ajani Cornelius at the 107th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Harold Fannin Jr. in the 143rd pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Josaiah Stewart still on the board at pick No. 219. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; T.J. Sanders at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a safety like Malachi Moore reach pick No. 236 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
