Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the No. 143 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 177th pick. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Giants clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Bottom line, with JC Latham leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 7 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The roster fit checks out.
Good price on D.J. James in slot 70, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Christian Haynes come to them and pounced at the 92nd overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Malachi Corley still on the board at pick No. 107. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the 177th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Curtis Jacobs was the payoff at pick 185. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 6 slot, where Michael Barrett graded well above the range. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Nothing to complain about; Rasheen Ali went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taulia Tagovailoa is a better player than the 235th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
