The Devin Leary selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 62 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Rakestraw Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
In the 25th overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 25
Graham Barton at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 35
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in Round 2, Pick 26, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
They paid a round early for Cole Bishop in No. 88, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 97
By-the-book stuff, MarShawn Lloyd at pick No. 91 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 113
A quiet steal in the 126th pick: Sataoa Laumea for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tip Reiman · TE · rank 182
They paid up for Tip Reiman at No. 169 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
A conviction pick on Nathaniel Watson at the 202nd overall pick that the board grades a round light. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Julian Pearl · OT · rank 204
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Julian Pearl in pick No. 219. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Devin Leary · QB · rank 307
A real head-scratcher, Devin Leary in slot 245 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 253
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kimani Vidal. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
