The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Jayden Daniels, and the whole operation now runs on his development. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Boyd reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Landing Smith that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
They jumped the gun on Ja'Lynn Polk, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nothing to complain about; Payton Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tykee Smith at No. 108. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Khristian Boyd well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 10: Andru Phillips for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
