The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Williams steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
They paid sticker price for Jonah Elliss in pick No. 47, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They did well to land Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 70, just ahead of his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A straight-up fair deal on Cooper Beebe at Round 4, Pick 7, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, James Williams at No. 143. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A quiet steal in the 185th overall pick: Julian Pearl for less than the market said. A fine player at a spot low on the priority list.
