The Dolphins looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Tyler Owens at the 184th pick regardless, 44 picks early.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. The SirVocea Dennis deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a sticky cover corner. More want than need.
They paid sticker price for Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Ben Sinnott at par in the 125th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Javion Cohen at Round 5, Pick 22 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Tyler Owens at slot 184 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Eric Watts in pick No. 198 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 241 with a little surplus value in Tayvion Robinson. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
