Boards are made to be trusted, and the Commanders shredded theirs for Jared Wiley. He came off 69 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Very little went wrong, and the A is earned.

Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The Morgan value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.

Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.7 · Pick 7 · Jayden Daniels · QB · rank 8
In pick 7 they get the face of the franchise. A real need, handled.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · JC Latham · OT · rank 18
Circle this one: JC Latham at the 36th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 34
Nothing to complain about; Troy Fautanu went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Ladd McConkey · WR · rank 40
They paid sticker price for Ladd McConkey in No. 40, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 26
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 67 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Max Melton · CB · rank 114
A premium they did not need to pay, Max Melton a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.2 · Pick 102 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 77
Taking Payton Wilson in No. 102 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 149
The board had cheaper options than Cole Bishop at slot 141, and it noticed. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Jawhar Jordan · RB · rank 203
Jawhar Jordan at pick 181 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 292
Value said wait; Jared Wiley in the 223rd overall pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
