The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C- in the wash.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. With interior defensive lineman and tight end unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Smith at that price is a win they earned.

In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
