You could see the war room lean forward. Quinshon Judkins at the 143rd overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
If Jones Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a seam-stretching tight end, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Malaki Starks in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Jihaad Campbell all the way to the 69th pick, and they scooped it up. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Omarr Norman-Lott in No. 77 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Azareye'h Thomas in pick 89 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They reached a country mile for Emery Jones Jr. at pick No. 104, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quinshon Judkins at Round 5, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Seth McLaughlin at the 217th overall pick is the proof. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jared Wilson slid further than he should have, and No. 220 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Deion Burks in the 238th overall pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
