If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bills would have aced it. Tyler Onyedim at pick No. 220 is 54 spots clear of where he belonged. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Clark. They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 91 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Bud Clark all the way to the 126th pick, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at pick No. 168 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at No. 177 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach on Eric McAlister in the Round 6 slot; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nick Barrett at slot 218 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Tyler Onyedim at No. 220, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
