Call it larceny. Logan Jones sat on the board until pick No. 127, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
If Tucker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The Fitzgerald pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They let A.J. Haulcy come to them and pounced at slot 58. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Logan Jones in the 127th overall pick, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A surprising call. With running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the 133rd pick on Bishop Fitzgerald, a safety they were not short of.
J.C. Davis in pick 138 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nadame Tucker in pick No. 139 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
