Boards are made to be trusted, and the 49ers shredded theirs for Nadame Tucker. He came off 33 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
However the rest shakes out, Lew at that price is a win they earned. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 27 they get an enforcer at safety, even if it was a touch early.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Germie Bernard in pick No. 62. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Connor Lew all the way to No. 108, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Kaleb Proctor at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, J.C. Davis at slot 133 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Marlin Klein at the 138th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nadame Tucker this early at pick 139. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
