The Giants spent the pick that matters most on Shedeur Sanders, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The cost of the Sanders reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will answer for taking defensive back early while safety, cornerback and other spots went begging.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
They bypassed pressing needs at safety, cornerback and other spots to take Cooper DeJean, a defensive back that was not the priority.
By-the-book stuff, Chris Braswell at No. 69 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Brian Thomas Jr. at slot 71, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Christian Haynes at pick No. 76, well ahead of any board in the building. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tyleik Williams in Round 4, Pick 7 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Raheim Sanders in pick 128 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zakhari Franklin at slot 249 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
