The Patriots put a flag in the ground for Taulia Tagovailoa, 92 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The math is unkind, and the D follows.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want. On value alone, Rice makes the weekend a net positive.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
