The 49ers' one glaring miss is wide receiver, a need they left exactly as they found it. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Demmings has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Nothing to complain about; Chase Bisontis went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Trey Zuhn III at the 127th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Charles Demmings, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
