The Bills did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cyrus Allen fell into pick No. 220. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will need Pride Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid a round early for Genesis Smith in Round 3, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kaleb Proctor a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A conviction pick on Nadame Tucker at the 165th pick that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Toriano Pride Jr. this early at the Round 5 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
The board fumbled Jaeden Roberts all the way to pick 182, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Cyrus Allen at the 220th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
