The Broncos looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Aiden Fisher at slot 170 regardless, 69 picks early. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Wetjen makes the weekend a net positive. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Malachi Lawrence went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on Justin Joly in No. 108; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value said wait; DeMonte Capehart in pick No. 111 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Aiden Fisher in the 170th overall pick, miles early. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, Connor Tollison in Round 7, Pick 30 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Kaden Wetjen in pick 256, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Carver Willis enough to skip the value, taking him in the 257th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
