You build a draft on nights like this. Marlin Klein had no business being available in the 229th pick, and the Buccaneers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The cost of the World reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 15 they get a press-man option on the boundary. A real need, handled.
They jumped the gun on Gabe Jacas, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A quiet steal in the 77th overall pick: Romello Height for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaiah World well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kevin Coleman Jr. at pick No. 155 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Bryce Boettcher in slot 195 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
