Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. Oscar Delp, the No. 133 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 183rd pick. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They will need Kelly to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let KC Concepcion come to them and pounced at pick No. 34. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jadarian Price at the 65th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Bud Clark in No. 104 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid up for Beau Stephens at pick 143 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Oscar Delp at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Jack Kelly in Round 7, Pick 1 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
