The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Drew Allar, the No. 107 name on the board, in the Round 6 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Felton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a home-run threat at receiver, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kaleb Johnson in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kamari Ramsey in the 77th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
The board had Dontay Corleone higher than No. 121, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Tacario Davis at the 151st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They will replay Armand Membou at pick 169 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
LT Overton at slot 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cobee Bryant at pick No. 172 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Drew Allar at the 181st pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaishawn Barham at Round 6, Pick 13 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Antwane Wells Jr. in No. 209 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Donovan Edwards all the way to slot 225, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for PJ Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
