Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cowboys were there to profit. Ryan Flournoy, the No. 203 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 233.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Amarius Mims at the 24th pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Fair-plus on Junior Colson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 174. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Caedan Wallace at the 216th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Ryan Flournoy in No. 233 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tayvion Robinson at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
