The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Reaching for Okie-Anoma left real value on the table behind him. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On value alone, Fautanu makes the weekend a net positive. Kaden Elliss gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 8th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Troy Fautanu at No. 34. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid a round early for Xavier Worthy in pick 43, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Brenden Rice at Round 3, Pick 4 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ben Sinnott in pick No. 103, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached a country mile for Marist Liufau at the Round 5 slot, and the board is aghast. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They took Daijun Edwards at par in the 180th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board had cheaper options than Jaylan Ford at slot 193, and it noticed. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at No. 231 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
