The rest of the league had time to spare on DJ Uiagalelei; the Cardinals did not wait, grabbing him 118 spots ahead at No. 151. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
However the rest shakes out, Bech at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Denzel Burke at the 47th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
They took Aeneas Peebles at par in pick No. 78, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jack Bech at slot 113 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A real head-scratcher, DJ Uiagalelei in Round 5, Pick 14 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
