They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Donovan Smith, 101 picks early at the 114th overall pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
On value alone, Taylor makes the weekend a net positive. The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get a workhorse for the backfield at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cam Skattebo in the Round 2 slot, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jayden Higgins in No. 78 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Donovan Smith at the 114th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Mason Taylor was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 14, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The roster fit checks out.
