Some picks age like wine; Taylen Green at the Round 4 slot will need to, sitting 66 spots clear of his grade. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Caldwell pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through offensive lineman.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
A conviction pick on Zachariah Branch at slot 48 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Daylen Everette in the 79th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Taylen Green at the Round 4 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jeff Caldwell at No. 215 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Zavion Thomas in pick 231, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
