The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and TreVeyon Henderson fell into the Round 5 slot.

That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Luther Burden III · WR · rank 19
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a matchup problem out wide at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Taking Tyler Booker in No. 61 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 39
Steal is underselling it; Kaleb Johnson at pick No. 79 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.9 · Pick 146 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 60
TreVeyon Henderson at pick 146 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Cody Simon · LB · rank 122
The board fumbled Cody Simon all the way to the 203rd overall pick, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.20 · Pick 236 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 190
Circle this one: Jordan Hancock at the 236th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Cody Lindenberg · LB · rank 219
They robbed the room for Cody Lindenberg here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
