The Commanders did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dani Dennis-Sutton fell into pick 237.
Horn Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 20 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Taking Mike Green in Round 2, Pick 24 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Colston Loveland was still sitting there in pick 80, and they pounced on premier tight end value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nicholas Singleton at the Round 5 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A quiet steal in the 196th overall pick: Logan Jones for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jimmy Horn Jr. at No. 230 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Dani Dennis-Sutton in pick No. 237, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Ja'Quinden Jackson at the 246th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
