The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Commanders watched Dylan Sampson slide 52 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Reaching for Greene III left real value on the table behind him. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get an island corner, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A safety of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 24 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tyler Warren in pick 75, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Burch in No. 78, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dylan Sampson in pick No. 96 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Earnest Greene III. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Circle this one: Sonny Styles at the 147th pick is a fall that decides a draft. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
