The Vikings cashed the board's mistake on Dial: A-.

You build a draft on nights like this. Marcellas Dial had no business being available in pick 232, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Vikings clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

In the end it comes back to Jared Verse, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.17 · Pick 17 · Jared Verse · DE-EDGE · rank 16
Jared Verse in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Bo Nix · QB · rank 23
Circle this one: Bo Nix at slot 48 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 37
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. is a better player than the 49th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 102
Dominick Puni in Round 4, Pick 9 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.9 · Pick 145 · Sione Vaki · S · rank 138
A clean, defensible pick in No. 145 with a little surplus value in Sione Vaki. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.21 · Pick 157 · Luke McCaffrey · WR · rank 143
A tidy bit of business in the 157th overall pick, where Luke McCaffrey graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Justin Rogers · DL · rank 167
By-the-book stuff, Justin Rogers at pick No. 166 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 163
Jaylen Wright at pick 179 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.20 · Pick 195 · Ethan Driskell · OT · rank 192
Ethan Driskell at slot 195 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Tarheeb Still · CB · rank 195
The board fumbled Tarheeb Still all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Marcellas Dial · CB · rank 194
They will replay Marcellas Dial at No. 232 for years; that is how good the value is. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.32 · Pick 252 · Jha'Quan Jackson · WR · rank 227
You do not let a wide receiver like Jha'Quan Jackson reach the 252nd pick and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
