The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Lee has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Getting McCaffrey where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 3 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
The board had Payton Wilson higher than pick No. 68, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cam Hart at the 108th overall pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in No. 129; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Hunter Nourzad at par in pick 157, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Luke McCaffrey in the 167th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Logan Lee at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Myles Murphy at Round 7, Pick 10 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Evan Williams at the 232nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
