The Chargers torched the value chart for Braelon Allen, taking him 32 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Jenkins at the 45th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Blake Corum at Round 3, Pick 5 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
No edge and no loss on Leonard Taylor III in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Braelon Allen well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Michael Barrett went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
