The war room fell hard for Oluwafemi Oladejo, and it showed at No. 79: 162 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Thornton Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Trey Amos at the Round 2 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Oluwafemi Oladejo at pick 79 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Smael Mondon Jr. at the 148th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They reached a country mile for Jalen Travis at Round 6, Pick 29, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 238 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Kyle Monangai at pick No. 250 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
