The rest of the league had time to spare on Oluwafemi Oladejo; the Commanders did not wait, grabbing him 120 spots ahead at pick 121. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
On value alone, Martinez makes the weekend a net positive. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Grey Zabel at the 29th pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Azareye'h Thomas in slot 61 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ozzy Trapilo in No. 85 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Oluwafemi Oladejo in the 121st overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Savion Williams still on the board at pick No. 148. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Luke Lachey. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jalen Travis this early at slot 207. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Damien Martinez at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Nick Martin at the 250th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
