The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 148 on Oluwafemi Oladejo a full 93 spots early.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Mafah. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
They let Trey Amos come to them and pounced at pick No. 61. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Jalen Royals at the 84th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Anthony Belton in Round 4, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Oluwafemi Oladejo at the 148th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A wild overpay on Jalen Travis in pick 207, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Phil Mafah still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
Taking Luke Lachey in slot 238 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith at pick 250 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
