The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Gabe Hall, 113 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Pritchett. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a long-term starter on the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In slot 27 they get a ballhawk on the back end, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
Mekhi Wingo at the 35th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. went about where he belonged in pick 56. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Audric Estime at pick No. 68 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
