The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Ahmed Hassanein, 103 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B+.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Skattebo. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 14th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
A quiet steal in the 44th overall pick: Omarion Hampton for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Deone Walker at slot 76. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ahmed Hassanein at pick 116 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Danny Stutsman at No. 150 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cam Skattebo in Round 5, Pick 31 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Roc Taylor at the 172nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board fumbled Robert Spears-Jennings all the way to slot 174, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
