New England Patriots

Collins should have been long gone. The Patriots pounced, and earned a A.

You could see the war room lean forward. Alfred Collins at pick 238 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Little to argue with here, and the A says so.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 1
In the 24th overall pick they get an island corner at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 13
The board fumbled Wyatt Milum all the way to pick No. 36, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
Ashton Jeanty at No. 56 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 12
Walter Nolen in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 40
Taking Jihaad Campbell in Round 3, Pick 3 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Colston Loveland · TE · rank 46
Colston Loveland in the 79th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Josaiah Stewart · DE-EDGE · rank 42
Josaiah Stewart at slot 88 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 55
They barely believed it either: Aireontae Ersery still on the board at pick 103. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.1 · Pick 138 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 56
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Fairchild at slot 138 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.3 · Pick 219 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
Jake Majors at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · Kyle Kennard · DE-EDGE · rank 78
You do not let an edge rusher like Kyle Kennard reach Round 7, Pick 4 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · Alfred Collins · DT · rank 62
They robbed the room for Alfred Collins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
