You build a draft on nights like this. Xavier Worthy had no business being available in the Round 3 slot, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Hopper reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
No drama and no debate, Jonathon Brooks went about where he belonged in slot 43. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Javon Bullard in No. 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Xavier Worthy at pick 88 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Dominick Puni in pick No. 91; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Sataoa Laumea in Round 5, Pick 4, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They paid up for Ty'Ron Hopper at the 168th pick when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Elijah Jones, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Joe Milton III in the 219th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy bit of business in Round 7, Pick 25, where Tyler Owens graded well above the range. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 255th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
