Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
However the rest shakes out, Oladapo at that price is a win they earned. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. If Holker pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Jordan Morgan in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Devontez Walker went about where he belonged in pick 68. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Khyree Jackson at the 103rd overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Mahogany in the 105th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dallin Holker in pick No. 137 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a safety like Kitan Oladapo reach No. 180 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Nathaniel Watson at slot 231 for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
